剧情简介
艾薇塔，这位传奇的女士在阿根廷人心中有着十分重要的地位。她出生贫寒，但对未来充满憧憬，在那个时代，为此她得付出许多代价。在她年仅十五岁时，就跟一个抒情歌手跑到首都，但歌手已婚，她只有流落街头成了一名舞女。
但具有美丽容颜的她，很快在一个摄影师的镜头下成名，从此辗转在富人和官员中，直到她遇到贝隆上校——一个声望上升的军官，她才脱颖而出，成为耀眼的政治明星。她的一生是传奇的一生，既深受人民爱戴，被称为“穷人的旗手”，也被富人们称为“不择手段的女人”。人们忘不了她对社会、劳工、教育所做出的贡献。其悲剧性的早逝(年仅33岁)，令人惋惜。她曾哀感“永远也不会被理解”，其实，阿根廷人民对她的缅怀是很深的，毕竟，她悲惨的过去，不是她本人的过错。
如果她处的时代是一个公平、富足的时代，象她一样天真无邪的女孩就不必为生存而做不愿做的事，而能选择她所喜爱的生活方式。 该电影获三项金球奖，和奥斯卡最佳原创歌曲奖。其拍摄过程有许多传奇般的故事。
1979年该剧大获成功后，当时製作人罗伯特要英国导演帕克(Alan Parker)将该剧拍成电影。但被邀到奢华游艇上，受到热情接待的帕克居然拒绝了，他说他拍腻了这种调调，结果他被罗伯特用网球拍痛击了一顿后，飞快的逃回饭店。由此可以想像罗伯特的巨大失望。其实，帕克对这一决定一直后悔了15年，在这期间，许多着名导演和演员都试图将它拍成电影，但都没成功。直到1994年，一直关注着该剧发展动态的帕克又受到邀请，这次，他没再错过机会。
女主角由麦当娜主演，她为获得该角色，写了四页亲笔信给导演，并专门学习声乐三个月（如此有名而又如此认真！），光在录音棚就录了四个月，每周7天，49段音乐就录了四百多个小时，当然出精品。而且，她在阿根廷拍外景时，面对抗议浪潮，她付出几倍于他人的努力，终于得到回报，甚至阿根廷总统也被她的诚心感动，答应出借总统府阳台。拍摄当天，当她出现在阳台，演唱“别为我哭泣阿根廷”时，4000民众演员和摄製人员都被深深的感动，以至人们都疯狂了。在电影中可以见到这一真实感人的场面。（这不是民众演员的“高超演技”）。
男演员安东尼奥.班德拉斯(Antonia Banderas)第一次和导演约见，要求扮演这一角色时，即兴在饭店当众将剧中所有曲目都引吭高歌了一遍，让导演与其他客人都又惊又喜。贝隆由英国着名音乐剧演员演员Jonathan Pryce主演，他曾演过《西贡小姐》里“工程师”一角。
