裴多菲（1823—1849）匈牙利十九世纪最伟大的诗人，资产阶级民主主义革命家。他一生写了800多首抒情诗，8部长篇叙事诗，被誉为匈牙利“抒情之王”。主要作品有长诗《农村的大锤》和《勇敢的约翰》等。他的《自由·爱情》一诗被白莽译为《爱情与自由》“生命诚可贵，爱情价更高；若为自由故，二者皆可抛！”，在我国流传甚广。
